Treasure Island Celebrates it’s 10th & Last Year on the Island

San Francisco’s Treasure Island Music Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary this October, as the infamous island makes its final appearance in the music festival circuit.

Presented by Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment, just over two dozen musical acts will come together October 15-16. This will be a goodbye of sorts, as music fans can send off the island in its final year, until it relocates to a new home in 2017. While the new location is still unknown, chances are the festival is seeking out a larger space to accommodate the TIMF crowd and make the festival an even bigger event for future years.

Since its birth in 2007, Treasure Island has been a huge attraction to music festival attendees because the festival generally curates a line-up of indie, hip-hop and electronic music, with no overlapping sets. This year’s line-up features James Blake, Purity Ring, Glass Animals, Zhu, Stormzy, Tycho, Young Thug and many more!

In addition to the the music line-up, the festival has much more to offer from a full comedy line-up, arts and crafts, silent disco and many interactive art installations for attendees to check out.

Here are five artists to look forward to at Treasure Island this year:

Ice Cube

For everyone growing up listening to hip-hop, this is most likely a must-see set of the weekend for you.

Zhu

The mystery behind this producer is what keeps many hooked, along with his sexy dark electro-pop sound. With the release of his debut album, GENERATION WHY, it feels extremely fitting to host the electronic music producer as he begins to mold and garner a following that’s genuinely interested into him because of his music, not necessarily based on who he is or what he looks like.

Glass Animals

This is a band that has amassed a “must see” reputation in the musical festival circuit with their psychedelic, indie leaning nostalgic sound.

Mura Masa

The young British electronic music producer has a sound that meets indie-pop and hip-hop.

Tycho

Sacramento native, Tycho, seems to have been working on a new album (or new music based on Instagram) and many are excited to hear some new ethereal soundscapes with the city’s landscape framing the background.
