Billed as the Oldest Zombie Walk in the World, Sacramento’s 16th Annual Zombie Walk takes place this Saturday, August 20th in conjunction with the younger, but synergistically themed 3rd Annual Carnival of the Dead. The center for all of Saturday’s action is Roosevelt Park at 1615 9th Street, in Downtown Sacramento.
In the words of the organizers, Trash Film Orgy Productions, “The Sacramento Zombie Walk is an interactive large-scale community performance art event. Everyone is encouraged to dress as the undead and join in as we invade Roosevelt Park for the 3rd Annual Carnival of the Dead, then terrorize the R Street Corridor and return to the park for an outdoor screening of the Sam Raimi’s 1992 undead masterpiece ‘Army of Darkness.’”
Trash Film Orgy (TFO) Production are well known to Sacramento audiences for their long running festival of midnight film screenings as well as a series of well received, locally produced feature films, featuring Sacramento-based cast and crew members. The relatively new Carnival of the Dead has not only entertained attendees in its own right but has anchored TFO’s long running Zombie Walk, creating a sustainable, genre-specific, significant event lasting several hours. And all for the undead-princely sum of absolutely nothing – because, that’s right, admission to the carnival and participation in the Walk is free for all ages.
