This year I’m looking forward to ending my summer with Goldenvoice’s 13th annual FYF Fest, returning to it’s new home at Los Angeles’ Exposition Park August 27 & 28. The festival’s music lineup always caters to hipster leaning music fans of LA with an eclectic mix of indie bands, hip-hop and up-and-coming acts in the music festival circuit.
This year’s headliner’s feature Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, LCD Soundsystem & Grace Jones. Year after year FYF never fails to book well respected and unique headliners, but also music acts that somehow resonate with the Los Angeles music scene.
Some of this year’s best sets and my take on the six most anticipated acts include:
Father John Misty
Explosions in the Sky
I’m also really stoked to see they added Mac DeMarco and Classixx, and a few other acts to finish off 2016’s line-up. See FYF Fest’s full at fyffest.com.
Tips for the festival:
Transportation: I enjoyed having the ability to take the metro and getting dropped off right outside of the festival instead of having to worry about driving, parking or waiting for an Uber or Lyft. Music festivals always cause major traffic in cities, so when festivals are located convenient to public transportation, I always feel like that’s the way to go!
What to bring: I usually bring a small backpack to carry a water, phone, disposable cameras, small snacks, hand wipes and hand sanitizer. Los Angeles has long, hot and humid summers so it’s important to stay hydrated and protect your skin from the sun with sunscreen and protective clothing (like sunglasses and a hat). If you have any other questions on what to bring or what to expect, check out the festival’s FAQ here.
Tickets: Single day and VIP tickets are sold out, but you can still purchase GA weekend passes for $199 plus fees aeg.festivalticketing.com!
