Pro Rugby: Sacramento’s Best Kept Professional Secret

You know about the Sacramento Kings, the River Cats and the Republic FC. Meanwhile, PRO Rugby launched in 2016 and is the first team sport professional league to debut in the U.S. since Major League Soccer in 1993 and Major League Lacrosse in 2001. And Sacramento has a team that plays in Bonney Field. Who knew?

Even if you did, or didn’t know about PRO Rugby Sacramento, you’ll have a chance to check out this unique sport in person when the Sacramento squad (currently unnamed) takes on Ohio on Sunday in a Mother’s Day match at Bonney Field. Kickoff is 5 p.m.

This is actually Sacramento’s second home match, as the team goes into the Ohio game with a 1-1 record. SacPress will feature a full photo gallery after Sunday’s match.

If you can’t make it on Sunday, another match will be played on Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. ahead of a long road trip before the squad returns home for its final three home matches in July. Ticket pricing starts at $30. Information and tickets are available at the gate or via Ticketmaster through prorugby.org.
