Healthy Eating Made Tasty at Oak Park’s New Superfood Cafe

For the Farm to Fork Capital of the US, it can be surprisingly hard to find a joint to grab a quick yet healthy meal. Luckily for Sacramento and the residents of Oak Park, Vibe Health Bar is here to change that.

Vibe Health Bar, which opened in March, is a health cafe focusing on acai bowls and smoothies, while boasting a variety of other health-benefiting foods and superfoods for the busy customer.

“[Vibe] brings a very health-conscious based super-food focus to Sacramento [with] ingredients that are organic, locally sourced, non-GMO, and with non-pesticides,” said Brandon Brodzky, the co-owner of the bar. “We look at farming practices, we look at fairtrade and fair labor. Really our vision is to show people that you can make healthy eating taste very good.”

Vibe’s superfood add-ons include goji berries, hemp hearts, cordyceps or chaga mushrooms, chia seeds and cacao, just to name a few. Brodzky notes that some of the powerful benefits of superfoods include promoting focus and cognitive enhancement, and treating inflammation, among others.

“You can get all kinds of great benefits out of it without buying a rockstar or redbull,” said Brodzky.

The motivation that drives Brodzky is a belief in local and healthy eating and a desire to make it accessible to the community.

That being said, Vibe makes it explicit that they are open to everyone and not just health connoisseurs. Their vision is to promote healthy eating as not only something good for your body, but also something that can be good-tasting. They also hope to help educate the community about the healthy things out there they can eat daily and have access to in a cafe-like setting.

“[Healthy eating is] the root of how we perform in life and how we feel,” said Brodzky. “You should be able to put food in your body that gives you energy as opposed to you feeling sluggish and tired after you eat.”

The cafe boasts armchairs and a wooden bar providing plenty of seating. Free wi-fi encourages studying or working, and comfy armchairs are perfect for catching up with friends. The walls are decorated with artwork made by Vibe employee Aliya Sidqe.

Vibe also partners with local businesses like Zeal Kombucha for their kombucha on tap, Brass Clover for their cold brew and Chocolate Fish, who made a special roast for Vibe’s Cognitive Coffee. Vibe works with local companies to support Sacramento as much as possible.

Vibe Health Bar is located at 3515 Broadway in Oak Park. Their hours are Tuesday-Friday from 8am-6pm Saturday and Sunday from 9am-5pm. They are closed on Mondays.
