Mini Midtown Farmers Market to ‘Travel’ to Farm-To-Fork Festival

With the annual Farm-to-Fork events in full swing, it’s clear that September is definitely the time to get your fill of fresh fruits, vegetables and more, oh my.

Complete with up to 10 hand-selected farmers, producers and vendors, a “mini” Midtown Farmers Market will be set-up during the large-scale Farm-to-Fork Festival on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Capitol Mall in Sacramento.  The traveling “mini” Midtown Farmers Market will be located near 6th Street and Capitol Mall and will include popular vendors such as Dragon Gourmet Mushrooms,  Winters Fruit Tree, Eat Right Edibles and Wheel Lemonade, to name a few.

With an impressive bounty of locally-made and/or grown products, the participating Midtown Farmers Market vendors will also share educational tidbits at the family-friendly festival.

The popular, fun and free 3rd Annual Farm-to-Fork Festival boasts a delicious selection of offerings that are produced and available in the Sacramento region. Attendees will find food, wine and beer from regional eateries and purveyors, as well as live music, five live cooking demonstration stages, a kids’ zone, interactive booths from local grocers, farms and ranches and more.

“The Midtown Business Association is thrilled to represent the region with the only farmers market on-site at the big Farm-to-Fork Festival,” said Emily Baime Michaels, executive director of the Midtown Business Association.  “We are excited to introduce our thriving market concept to an even larger audience while celebrating our local farmers and producers.”

Meanwhile, and starting earlier that same day, the Midtown Farmers Market will be fully functional and bursting with farm-fresh and locally grown products on 20th Street between J and K.  Showcasing approximately 60 vendors each week, the Midtown Farmers Market continues to grow, evolve and reflect the dynamic and eclectic tastes of the surrounding neighborhood.   Highlights each week include locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables, specialty products and gourmet foods from regional farms and small businesses, lively chef demonstrations, entertaining live music and more.

Offered year-round on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (rain or shine), the 2015 Midtown Farmers Market is sponsored by Sutter Health, Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), Zipcar, Hook & Ladder Manufacturing Co., Common Cider Company, Wines of Lodi (LoCA), New Belgium Brewing, LowBrau Bierhall, Azul, DBI Beverage and Good Stock Co. Boutique.  The Midtown Farmers Market is owned by the Midtown Business Association (www.exploremidtown.org) and is managed by Unseen Heroes (www.unseen-heroes.com).

With so many Farm-To-Fork choices in Sacramento, eating fresh has never been so easy.
