Davis Bike & Brew Fest: Bikes, Music, Brews and Benefit

bike brew logoBikes, music & brews, oh my!

In addition to featuring more than 60 beers and ciders from throughout the region, the 3rd Annual Davis Bike & Brew Fest — happening on Saturday evening, August 15 — promotes community spirit and helps the City of Davis raise needed funds to keep its unique biking culture going strong.

The Bike & Brew Fest is the biggest event of its kind in Davis and the cornerstone of the seven-day, citywide Davis Beer Week. Event highlights include unlimited “token-less” sampling, live music and food trucks. The community event and fundraiser benefits the Northern California Brewers Guild and the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame.

Davis is a town known for its bicycling culture and enthusiasm for the sport. Davis Bike & Beer Fest proceeds saved the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame from insolvency in 2013, and revenues have become an important part of the its operating budget. Davis Bike & Brew Fest attendees will be able to tour the fully air-conditioned Hall of Fame and learn first-hand about the vast history of bicycling in the United States. It is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the sport during an Olympic year.

Some of the featured breweries and cideries include Drake’s, Track 7, Almanac Beer Co., Schilling Cider, Fox Barrel Cidery, Berryessa Brewing Co., just to name a few. Beer enthusiasts will be able sample a wide range of offerings, everything from a High West Barrel aged dry stout to a clean, crisp and refreshing pilsner to everything in between. With 60 breweries in attendance, there’s expected to be 100+ different sampling options. Admission included unlimited tastings.

The Bike and Brew Fest runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and the music headliner “The Stone Foxes” take the stage at 6 p.m. Event founders are de Vere’s Irish Pub & Sudwerk Brewing Company and tickets are $35 through August 14 and $45 at the door. Designated Driver tickets are $10. Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
